Season's Totems
Music and Lyrical Composition: Ashagal
Lyrical Text: John Harford and Sierra Fox
Below, spreading sunlight,
High he glides, the Hawk of Spring.
The spear rises, the hunter is summoned,
Golden flows wine as pipes sing.
Chorus:
On the wind, in the storm,
From the soil and the sky,
Wing and claw, hoof and horn,
On the wheel the knots are tied.
The Summer Stag, at the banks,
Antlers scratching sacred oak.
Thunder is crowned, the breeze perfumed,
Honeysuckle and solstice smoke.
Chorus
Autumn Raven on crooked limb
Counts each one of the browning leaves
Fallen, each a warm day past,
Frost and hail will be winter’s feast.
Chorus
Howls reach the steely clouds,
Winter Wolf stalks, nose to the snow,
Ghosts of man and beast passed,
From moonlit thicket spies shades around the fires glow…
Chorus
